Pictures on a wall

The door opened. Inside there was a glow. A faint glimmer like fireflies trapped in a glass jar. She looked around. Walls extended high to a cavelike ceiling. She couldn't really see the top, it just felt high, limitless.

Along the walls there were drawings. Drawings which made her smile, giggle, feel a bit sad, as she traced her fingers along the lines. The lines felt warmer to the touch compared to the coolness of the wall. She wondered who drew them. Somewhere she wished she had.

She sat down for a while. It felt peaceful. The light glow, the picture galaxy on the walls and the quietness made her a bit sleepy. She curled up and decided to lie down, only for a while.

She rolled onto her side. The laptop screen stared back at her. She buried her head under the sheets to shut out the light. It was morning, night had passed. There was a light even under the covers. She stared at the underside of the grey cloth, closed her eyes, sighed and decided to make the mammoth effort of throwing off the sheets and leaping out of bed. Well maybe a leap was a bit ambitious.
